The Iditarod has a ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage. If you don't know what the Iditarod is, it originates from a diptheria outbreak in Nome and dog sled teams were sent in with medicine because planes couldn't fly. Today the race occurs every year and is almost 1,100 miles in very unforgiving terrain across Alaska and ends in Nome. Ray and I have our picks and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
